The Little Puffling Book - Hilmir Högnason

This story is based on actual events that have taken place every year in Vestmannaeyjar from times the oldest inhabitants can remember.The story is about the early life of a puffling and the many adventures it encounters from the moment it breaks out of its egg until it is rescued by children in the town and returned tothe sea.The author of the story is Hilmir Högnason, father of eight and electrician by trade. Hilmar was born on 27th August 1923 in Vestmannaeyjar, and this is his second book. He previously published an anthology of poetrycalled ‘Vatnsdals Hilmir’ and this is his second book. Hilmir is the son of farmer Högni Sigurðsson from Vatnsdalur, Vestmannaeyjar, and Guðny Magnúsdóttir from North Búðarholtshjáleiga in the Landeyjar area.Hilmir has lived in Vestmannaeyjar all his life, with the exception of the year he was forced to fl ee his home due to the volcanic eruption on Heimaey. Hilmir rescued pufflings as a young boy and later taught his own children to do the same.
